Ozzy Osbourne is no stranger to the Billboard charts. Between his records with Black Sabbath and his successful solo career, the current Revolver cover star has racked up his fair share of high-charting releases, including No. 1 albums in the U.K. for both Sabbath's Paranoid and 13. However, Ozzy's new album, Patient Number 9, has netted him a career first on one chart in particular.

According to Billboard, the Prince of Darkness's 13th studio album sold 52,500 equivalent album units during its first week of release (September 9th through September 16th), landing at the coveted No. 1 slot on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart, which is the first time an Ozzy solo record has ever accomplished that feat. Hellyeah.

Additionally, the star-studded record debuted at No. 1 on a smattering of other Billboard charts —  Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, Top Hard Rock Albums, Top Current Album Sales, Tastemaker Albums and Vinyl Albums. And who said rock is dead?

As Blabbermouth notes, Ozzy's past records have landed in the Top Albums Chart (which ranks the top-selling albums of a given week based only by traditional album sales, not streaming counts), but again, never a No. 1. 2020's Ordinary Man landed at No. 2, 2010's Scream at No. 4, 2007's Black Rain at No. 3, 2001's Down to Earth at No. 4, 1995's Ozzmosis at No. 4, and 1991's No More Tears at No. 7.

So it's fair to say that Ozzy's new record is, based on first-week sales, his best-selling album to date since Billboard started tracking Top Album Sales 31 years ago. That's pretty fucking cool.

In case you weren't able to contribute to those chart numbers, pick up Patient Number 9 on vinyl, CD and cassette over at Revolver's shop. Additionally, Revolver has two limited-edition Fall Issue Ozzy collector's bundles featuring hand-numbered prints, an alternative cover and a special slipcase. Get yours before they're gone!
