As Billboard previously reported, Pantera's surviving members — Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown — will be hitting the road in 2023 for a long-speculated reunion tour. The news broke with the announcement of Pantera signing with Artist Group International to book their North American dates, with agent Peter Pappalardo saying that he and his partner Dennis Arfa are "thrilled to be working with such an iconic band and bringing their music back to the fans."
A major detail that wasn't included in the initial announcement was who would be filling the shoes of the band's founding Abbott brothers, guitarist Dimebag Darrell and drummer Vinnie Paul, who've both died in the years since Pantera's last show on August 26th, 2001.
Now, after rumors swirled, it's been officially revealed that Black Label Society/Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante will be performing with Pantera during their run of 2023 shows.
According to Billboard, Wylde and Benante's inclusions in the lineup were greenlit by the estates of Paul and Darrell, as well as Brown himself. A source close to the band told Billboard that in 2023, Pantera will be headlining multiple major festivals throughout North America and Europe, as well as some of their own shows.
So far, neither Anselmo or Brown have officially commented on the reunion news, nor have Wylde or Benante released any personal statements about their involvement in the project.
