Last month, Parkway Drive returned with their first song in four years, titled "Glitch." The track served as a triumphant message of reassurance that the band were here to stay in the wake of rumors that they were considering calling it quits, following a somewhat cryptic statement posted to social media back in April citing "the toll" the band's career was taking "on ourselves and our friendships."
If there was even a shred of doubt left in anyone's mind that Parkway's career was on the fritz, then today's news should put that to bed. The Aussie metalcore titans have announced a new album titled Darker Still, the follow-up to 2018's Reverence, that's due for release later this fall. They've also shared another single called "The Greatest Fear," which features heroic guitar leads and a stomping rhythm that has kind of an Amon Amarth vibe to it.
"The greatest fear, the one we all share; this song is about the unifying force we all must face —death," frontman Winston McCall said of the track. "The goal was to create a song that saw death not as something that separates, but something that connects us all on our paths. Musically, we wanted to create a song that did this concept justice. It's heavy, it's epic and when it stomps it leaves an impact."
