Hear Philip Anselmo Rage on King Parrot's New Ripper "Nor Is Yours"

Featuring "an AC/DC riff if it was played by a grind or hardcore band"

Australian grindcore outfit King Parrot go way back with Philip Anselmo. The Pantera icon released their 2015 album, Dead Set, via his label, Housecore Records — the LP was also recorded at his Louisiana barn studio, Nodferatus' Lair — and has taken the group out on tour numerous times. In 2018, he even invited King Parrot's vocalist Matt Young onstage to join him for a ferocious rendition of Far Beyond Driven classic "I'm Broken." The Aussies have teamed with Anselmo once again for the upcoming EP Holed Up in the Lair, so titled because it was written and recorded (over just four days) at Nodferatus' Lair. Due out October 9th and available for pre-order now, the four-song EP includes standout cut "Nor Is Yours," a thrashy, punked-out ripper featuring Anselmo himself on guest vocals. Blast it above.

"When we came up with this song, it was distinctly different to anything we had written previously on any of our records," King Parrot's Matt Young commented. "It has an up-tempo groove that reminded me of an AC/DC riff if it was played by a grind or hardcore band. My head was busy trying to write lyrics for the other tracks, and this one through me a curve ball. Luckily we had our ol' mate and one of the most prolific heavy metal vocalists of all time Phil Anselmo lounging around in the studio. He accepted the challenge to write and direct the lyrics and also add some vocals in for good measure. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did writing and recording it."
