It's well documented how much Post Malone loves hard rock and heavy metal. He's screamed Pantera at karaoke, hung out at Slayer's final show and, of course, asked Ozzy to guest on his last album, Hollywood's Bleeding, and returned the favor by appearing on the Prince of Darkness' Ordinary Man. One of Post's absolute favorite bands is Nirvana — the pop star has previously covered "All Apologies" live, and he has a portrait of Kurt Cobain tattooed on his knuckles (not far from his Dimebag Darrell piece) as well as "Stay Away" inked on his forehead, a nod to the Nirvana song of the same name.
Now, Post Malone is set to take his love of Cobain and Co. next level with a livestream concert in tribute to the grunge giants. The performance, which will see him "perform a set of Nirvana hits and fan favorites," will broadcast live from Post's home and air on his official YouTube channel this Friday, April 24th at 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET. During the livestream on Friday, Post will raise money for the United Nations Foundation's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization. Throughout the show, Google will match all donations at up to $5 million, with all proceeds going to the UN Foundation. The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund is also tied into the innovative three-day virtual festival, PlayOn, which will also begin broadcasting on Friday and is set to include full sets from Slipknot, Korn and others.
