On Monday (July 11th), the second night of Rage Against the Machine's massive "Public Service Announcement" reunion tour and just their second show in 11 years, vocalist Zack de la Rocha injured his leg during the fourth song, "Bullet in the Head," at Chicago's United Center. He gamely persevered, finishing the rest of the 16-song set mostly seated on an onstage monitor, until he was carried off by the group's road crew at the end of the concert.
RATM's next show — the following night, again in Chicago — might have seemed very much in doubt. But de la Rocha, Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk pulled through, with the still-ailing Rage vocalist, this time, firmly planted on a road case center stage, commanding the rapt crowd through a incendiary set that included the tour debuts of "Vietnow" and "No Shelter." Again, de la Rocha ended the night by being carried offstage, the details of his injury yet to be revealed.
