As promised with a series of cryptic video teasers and a countdown on the band's official site rolling up to the number "0516," Slipknot came through with something big today, May 16th, at the stroke of midnight: namely, a new song, "Unsainted," and it's unsettling music video, directed by the band's M. Shawn Crahan. In contrast to last Halloween's neck-snapping surprise single "All Out Life," which clearly went out to all the unrepentant metalheads in the 'Knot fan base, "Unsainted" is a much more accessible, radio-friendly cut — which doesn't mean that its lyrics pull any punches. "You've killed the saint in me/How dare you martyr me?" Corey Taylor roars at the song's climax, reiterating two lines first introduced with the last of the teaser clips.
