Rob Zombie has been asked about his favorite horror movies and his favorite horror-movie villains, kill scenes, scream queens, directors, eras, etc., etc., etc., so many times, that we felt it necessary to give the dude a well-deserved fucking break. So when we talked him ahead of his "Hell on Earth" tour with Slayer, we took an entirely different tact and asked the shock rocker and filmmaker about his favorite cinematic dance sequences. After a long disbelieving pause at the query, he enthusiastically dove in.

Singing in the Rain

"That Donald O'Connor scene, when he runs up the wall, flips over backwards? That's pretty outrageous."

Swing Time

"There's a dance scene there with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. I love all those old movies, but I especially love them. There's that dance where they're hopping around this little fence they're in. I should try it sometimes — it looks impossible."

Gold Diggers of 1933

"It's an old Busby Berkeley musical. Scenes from it are actually featured in Bonnie & Clyde when they're hiding out in the movie theater. It's just one of the dance sequences that's insane — there are, like, 200 girls onstage."

Saturday Night Fever

"Corny, but these dance sequences are pretty great. Especially for how John Travolta is now — this pudgy guy — the moves here are pretty phenomenal."
