If you ever had any question which side Sacred Reich's politics lean, you're probably new around here or not paying attention. Today's lyric video for the condemnatory track "Divide and Conquer" will clear that up though, with its scathing criticism of the current state of divisive politics and disdain for disinformation, ignorance, and the xenophobia encouraged in such a landscape.
Combining images of protesters, signs emblazoned with heated slogans, shots of maps honed in on the borders, and much more delivered through a grainy black and white filter, the clip provides the perfect backdrop for delivering the fiery message put for by the band. A poignant finale comes when a small girl is seen running toward her mother, seemingly a reference to the separation of parents and children by the state.
The video comes on the heels of today's release of the group's latest LP Awakening. "We are so excited to share Awakening with everyone," exclaims frontman Phil Rind. "We had an incredible time making the record. It was such a fun and positive experience. We hope you can feel it when you listen to the album." In ever-gracious style, he continues, "To the fans who have supported Sacred Reich for all these years, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. None of this would be possible without you. We hope you enjoy the record as much as we did making it."
In celebration of the event, Sacred Reich will be hosting a release party in Hollywood, California at True Tattoo (home to famed tattooer and the band's logo designer Paul Stottler) tonight. Ahead of that, walk-in clients can get a special Sacred Reich themed tattoo specially designed by Paul all day today.
