See Alice in Chains Bring Out Dallas Green for Emotional "Nutshell" Performance

Alexisonfire, City & Colour singer joined grunge giants onstage at Ontario show

Alice in Chains are currently in the midst of a huge world tour in support of their latest critically acclaimed release Rainier Fog, and on a stop in London, Ontario, last night (April 23rd), the Seattle grunge icons brought out singer-songwriter Dallas Green for an emotionally charged rendition of "Nutshell."

Green is the singer-guitarist for post-hardcore act Alexisonfire, and also the man behind solo project City & Colour, which is opening for AIC on the current leg of their Rainier Fog trek. In his "Nutshell" cameo, he utilized the relaxed acoustic style he's become known for, bringing a heartfelt depth to the 1994 cut off Alice in Chains' seminal EP Jar of Flies. Green has previously covered the song numerous times, including in 2013 for WMMM-FM radio in Wisconsin, as you can see here.

Never released as a single but still one of the group's most recognizable songs, "Nutshell" had the crowd cheering and singing along, as can be heard throughout the over-six-minute fan-filmed performance. Just as the dark, electrifying guitar solo hits over halfway through, everyone seems lulled into a trance as lead guitarist and singer Jerry Cantrell faces Green for the smoky, blue-lit crescendo. Cantrell canters to the front of the stage just in time for the last few droning notes before clapping for the band's guest as he exits the stage.

Alice in Chains have a busy schedule ahead of them including dates in Canada and Europe, as well as a big, co-headlining North America run later this summer with nu-metal titans Korn. You can find their upcoming itinerary at this location
