On September 7th, 2012, thrash maestros united onstage at New York City's Gramercy. At a special concert dubbed Metal Masters IV, Pantera vocalist Philip Anselmo, Slayer guitarist Kerry King and ex-drummer Dave Lombardo, Exodus guitarist Gary Holt and Anthrax bassist Frank Bello all joined horns for a special set consisting of tracks from each member's respective discographies.
While songs from Pantera, Exodus and even the Anthrax crossover hardcore side-project, S.O.D., were on the setlist, the highlight of the night was when the aforementioned murderer's row of metal legends played a totally ripping cover of Slayer's iconic "Raining Blood." With Anselmo on the mic and the other musicians at their respective posts, the quintet blazed through the 1986 thrash pinnacle with the level of prowess and aggression that you'd expect from such an impressive crew — and then some.
