It's only been a year-and-a-half since their hour-long 2021 opus, For Those Who Wish to Exist, but Architects are already back with a new album — and a new sound. The U.K. quintet will be dropping a brand new full-length, the classic symptoms of a broken spirit, later this fall, and they're previewing its bold new direction today with a skyscraping lead single called "tear gas."

Unlike the stadium-sized metalcore sound of their last several releases, "tear gas" boasts a giant industrialized riff, a mechanized rhythm and a hot-blooded chorus that's reminiscent of early Linkin Park. It's a different direction for Architects, but it works. Take a listen while you watch its music video above via YouTube.

Architects frontman Sam Carter described the band's 10th album as feeling "more live, more exciting and more fun — it has that energy. We wanted it to be a lot more industrial and electronic." Based on the first single, we'd say that goal was certainly accomplished.

The classic symptoms of a broken spirit is due out October 21st via Epitaph Records and is now available for pre-order in a variety of formats. One of those is a Revolver-exclusive "clear" colored vinyl variant that's limited to just 500 copies worldwide. Get yours from our shop!
