Avenged Sevenfold finally addressed their breakthrough song "Bat Country" on the band's continuing "Breakdown" video series, digging into the City of Evil hit's bizarro spoken-word intro, dance beats and more. Today (June13th), they released the second part of the "Bat Country" episode, and it sees singer M. Shadows and bassist Johnny Christ dissecting the song's guitar leads and solos, and Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan's "bombastic yet musical" drumming, which, according to Shadows, received some flack at the time for being over the top and overplayed.
The singer describes the "Bat Country" solo as "a perfect solo," catchy enough for casual fans but also technical enough for real 'heads to appreciate. Shadows and Christ play back the isolated tracks and comment on different sections, some that were meant to sound "druggy," others that evoke a Spanish vibe for the bandmates. "It's hard to write fun songs that sound serious," Shadows reflects. Watch the clip above.
