See Bank Robbers, Modern Dancers Collide in Coheed's New "Old Flames" Video

Clip features dance numbers choreographed by Broadway's Jon Rua, of 'Spongebob Squarepants' and 'Hamilton' fame

Following last week's release of new single "Old Flames," progressive rockers Coheed and Cambria have issued a theatrical, intergalactic video for the song. The high-production clip features several futuristic characters, dressed in retro-futuristic dystopian space gear, in a bank robbing situation headed up by Sanchez himself. Director Charles "Chas" Todd (who has worked with the likes of Rihanna and DJ Mustard) helmed the visual and brought in Broadway luminary Jon Rua to choreograph the intricate dance scenes. Rua's resume includes roles in Tony and Grammy award-winning musicals Spongebob Squarepants and Hamilton. It all makes for a bizarre combination of seemingly ill-matched ingredients that somehow works in the end.

The video comes just ahead of tomorrow's release of Coheed's latest album, Vaxis - Act I: The Unheavenly Creatures, which marks a new entry in Sanchez's "Armory Wars" saga. The band's sold-out intimate Times Square performance at New York City's Hard Rock Cafe will take place tomorrow in conjunction with the kickoff of New York Comic Con, and fans can purchase the new album in various box set forms on the band's official site
