See Behemoth's Nergal Talk Rebellious Message Behind New Song "Wolves ov Siberia"

Singer-guitarist explores "duality of nature" on "empowering" track from upcoming 'I Loved You at Your Darkest'

In a newly published segment of Nuclear Blast's interview series  with Behemoth frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski — exploring the motivations and underlying themes from the band's upcoming album I Loved You At Your Darkest — the singer-guitarist sheds light on the band's latest single "Wolves ov Siberia."

Nergal calls the song's beat and groove "primal," claiming it is straightforward in execution but has a deeper meaning in context of the album. "It refers to allegiance, it refers to all the free thinkers and rebels that are gathered, and we are part of this rebellion," say Darski, continuing, "I really think that people who identify with the spirit of the band, with the nature of the band, will identify with the message of the song."

He then breaks down a bit more about the upcoming record, detailing how it is conceptual in nature but not in the traditional way of having a narrative from start to finish. Ever invested in outré blasphemy, Nergal elaborates on the album's bookend tracks "Solve" and "Coagula." These words represent the alchemical process wherein a lesser substance breaks down before coming together to form gold. They can also be found on the two hands of the Baphomet, the Knights of the Templar's worshipped deity and often symbolically interchangeable with Satan.

Nergal ends the clip quoting the song's chorus "We lost our Eden to own the world," meant to inspire listeners: "You gotta give up something... but then you're going to strike back harder than ever and you're gonna conquer all. I think it's a very empowering, a super vital song."
