Launched as a webcomic via different social media accounts — Facebook, Instagram, Twitter — in the fall of 2016, Belzebubs is, according to its creator JP Ahonen, "a trve kvlt documentary revolving around two main themes: the daily lives of your average occult family — Sløth, Lucyfer, Lilith and Leviathan — and the sluggish evolution of Sløth's black-metal band, featuring Obesyx and Hubbath." Belzebubs is also the name of said band, who are slathering on the corpse paint and strapped on their spiked gauntlets as we type, in preparation of the group's forthcoming Century Media album, Pantheon of the Nightside Gods, due April 26th. In real life, the 53-minute record was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö (Dark Funeral's The Secrets of the Black Arts, Dissection's The Somberlain) and features the guest talents of Desibelius, ICS Vortex and Skvllcraft. The band just dropped a windswept new animated music video, for the song "Cathedrals of Mourning," which sees the quartet (rounded out by drummer Samaël) tremolo-riffing and blast beating on a snow-covered mountainside where they accidentally trigger a hellish avalanche, wreaking black-metal destruction upon a ski resort below them. See the far-beyond-kvlt action above.
