Carrie Underwood is leaning into her love of hard rock and heavy metal. The country star recently hit the stage not once but twice with Guns N' Roses — first with Axl Rose at Stagecoach, and then with the entire band earlier this month during their concert at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. And she's previously shouted Mudvayne as her go-to workout music: "When I work out, I like to listen to things that are really angry," she said.

Now, Underwood has shared a fiery, country-tinged cover of Ozzy Osbourne's "Mama, I'm Coming Home," which features lyrics written by Motörhead's Lemmy Kilmister. Her take on classic power ballad, off 1991 No More Tears, was recorded in Nashville for Apple Music Sessions, which features artists pairing their own songs with their favorite covers all in an intimate, live setting. (The Ozzy cover comes paired with a live version of "Ghost Story," the lead single off Underwood's new album, Denim & Rhinestones.)

"It's one of my all-time favorite songs," the American Idol winner said of "Mama, I'm Coming Home." "I've always thought it felt a lot like a country song, and I've wanted to cover it for a long time."

For his part, Ozzy's highly anticipated new solo album, Patient Number 9 — which features an all-star cast including Beck, Tony Iommi, Duff McKagan, Eric Clapton, Zakk Wylde, Robert Trujillo, Josh Homme and the late Taylor Hawkins — is now available for pre-order in a variety of formats.
