See Classical Cellist Play Stunning Cover of Slipknot's "The Devil in I"

European virtuoso masks up to take on the Nine's 2014 single

With more than 13 international prizes under his belt, European cellist Sugar Cello is a highly educated and virtuosic performer whose skill set would seemingly entice a more high-brow audience than those who tend to jump in the pit. Regardless, the musician likes to dabble with subcultural crossover, and his latest foray is a jaw-dropping cover of Slipknot's 2014 single "The Devil in I." Sugar Cello (real name Nina) completely reimagined the song via layered cello parts, which see him meld his two worlds seamlessly into one stunning amalgamation.

Starring the cellist in several Slipknot masks throughout, the video features a sequence of cuts between the string master playing mostly in front of a stark white background. Flashes of a red wash show up at heavier parts, punctuating the action with gorgeous crimson flair. An especially gripping moment comes near the 2:26 mark when the cellist launches into an incredibly dexterous solo.

"This project was created with love and was driven by passion," Sugar Cello says. "One of the challenges I encountered in the making was to insufflate a more orchestral feel to Slipknot's material. All content was approached with care and respect for Slipknot's music, and Slipknot's international family." Check out and subscribe to his YouTube channel here to see his other impressive works.
