Prog-rock act shares gorgeous clip in conjunction with kickoff of co-headlining tour with Mastodon

In conjunction with the kickoff of their co-headlining The Unheavenly Skye tour with Mastodon, progressive rockers Coheed and Cambria have released a gorgeous black-and-white clip for their track "The Pavilion (A Long Way Back)" taken from 2018 full-length The Unheavenly Creatures.

Capturing the band's triumphant presence as performers — while singer Claudio Sanchez wanders through an alleyway into the backstage area of the venue where he eventually joins his colleagues onstage — the simple premise highlights the song's soaring, evocative structure and emotional lyrical content. Dramatic lighting enhances the two-tone simplicity, bringing full focus to Sanchez during the track's peak final passage where the group's skilled theatrical delivery really shines.

Sanchez and his tourmate, Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor spoke to Revolver recently about the bands pairing up for the current run. "We've crossed paths at some festival dates here and there, but this will be the first time we've actually been on tour together," explained the Coheed front man. "And I've gotta tell you, I'm really excited — I'm a fan!"

Dailor echoed the excitement, adding "It makes a lot of sense. We're two bands that have been around for a while, mingling in the same circles. I think it's going to be awesome." The Atlanta prog-metal outfit are currently celebrating the 10th anniversary of their acclaimed record Crack the Skye, hence the apt tour naming.

Catch The Unheavenly Skye featuring Coheed and Cambria, Mastodon, and special guests Every Time I Die on its current run now through July 3rd. An official list of dates can be found here.
