Cradle of Filth are celebrating their 30th anniversary in 2021 and doing so with a new album, Existence Is Futile, their 13th overall. The U.K. extreme-metal veterans, led by the inimitable Dani Filth, are set to drop the LP on October 22nd via Nuclear Blast, and today (July 30th), they've unleashed its lead single, "Crawling King Chaos," a blast of gothic blackened metal in the baroque style fans have come to know and love. The song arrives accompanied with a similarly over-the-top music video full of blood, fire, demons and virginal nymphs. Watch and listen above.

"The album is about existentialism, existential dread and fear of the unknown," Filth commented of Existence Is Futile, which notably marks the return of horror icon and sometime collaborator Doug "Pinhead" Bradley to the COF fold. "The concept wasn't created by the pandemic. We'd written it long before that began, but the pandemic is the tip of the cotton-bud as far as the way the world is headed, you know? I guess the title, Existence Is Futile, does sound a little morbid. But again, it's more about recognizing that truth and saying that everything is permitted because nothing really matters, which mimics the occultist Aleister Crowley's maxim. We all know we're going to die, so we might as well indulge life while we possess it. The final track on the album – 'Us, Dark, Invincible' – really drives that point home. Also, the artwork for this record was created by the Latvian visionary Arthur Berzinsh, who also dressed the last two albums, and that reeks of the exceedingly beautiful yet apocalyptic, too."

Existence Is Futile is available for pre-order in an array of collectible formats including a Revolver-exclusive "black & white marble" edition limited to 400 worldwide. Get yours at our shop.
