Last year, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and eight-time Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin celebrated the Jewish Festival of Lights with a series they dubbed Hanukkah Sessions, in which they covered eight songs by prominent Jewish artists — from Bob Dylan to the Beastie Boys. This year, they're doing it again, and after kicking off the series with a death-metal rendition of Lisa Loeb's "Stay" and covers of Ramones, Barry Manilow, Van Halen, Amy Winehouse and the Clash songs, they're celebrating the eighth and final night with a cover of KISS' "Rock and Roll All Nite."
While many of the songs throughout this series featured the two hard-rockin' musicians trying their hand at much softer fare, this 1975 KISS classic is just the type of fun-lovin' banger that Grohl has a natural proclivity for. His raggedy voice sounds perfect bellowing out the song's fired-up refrain, and he and Kurstin pull off the KISS makeup so well that they could get away with wearing it on any given Tuesday.
See the two guys rock and rage above and see what Grohl had to say about the song below.
Ladies and gentlemen….we made it. Night 8! And what better way to celebrate another year of Hanukkah Sessions than Chaim Witz and Stanley Eisen….two young lads from Queens that set the world (and thousands of stages) on FIRE as Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of @kiss!!! pic.twitter.com/mi3neCg2we
