For those who love heavy music, exercise and death metal go together like peanut butter and jelly, and Pittsburgh band Leprosy were preaching that gospel over the weekend during a city-wide marathon. The local group set up camp under a tent, right alongside the route that thousands of runners were taking while running a 26-mile race, and proceeded to crank through crushing death-metal songs while vocalist PJ Colligan doled out high-fives to panting passerby.
Of course, the fucking awesome spectacle was captured on camera by a local reporter, which makes for an utterly hilarious 23 seconds of brutal metal awkwardly colliding with a relatively normal, un-metal activity. Of course, the motivational performance was planned and promoted on Leprosy's website, so whether or not they got the legal permits to carry out this thing, they fuckin' did it. Amazing.
Watch a clip of Leprosy's set below.
When people ask me why I love Pittsburgh I will refer them to this video of a local death metal band (Leprosy) playing for the Pittsburgh Marathon between thunderstorms after getting flooded out of their planned marathon spot by a clogged sewer drain. #keeppghmetal pic.twitter.com/fIyYvk0x8c
