See Death-Metal Choir Shock 'America's Got Talent' With Cover of Britney Spears' "Toxic"

Dremeka made Heidi Klum's nightmares come true

Britney Spears' classic "Toxic" might be most utilized by dance clubs and drag queens, but the self-proclaimed world's only metal choir, Dremeka, showed off the song's diversity with the addition of some heavy growling when they dropped a terrifying death-metal rendition on America's Got Talent last night (June 28th).

After explaining to judges Howie Mandell, Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell and Sofia Vergara that "Dremeka" is an ancient word meaning "dream machine," the choir's conductor Pierre claims, "We're here to make you dream."

The ensuing aural attack meets mixed emotions, with some — like Klum — feeling the medley was more like a nightmare. The choir begins with an excerpt from the medieval piece "O Fortuna" before roaring into the upbeat pop track. Audience reactions are mixed in the panning shots but plenty, Vergara included, get into it quickly and dance along to the hellish take on "Toxic."

"Please don't take it personal," begs Klum. "It's a no for me," before Howie Mandell points out the hypocrisy of her being the "Queen of Halloween" and still not approving. He emphatically tells the group, "Nothing thrills me more than to give you your third yes," allowing them to move into the next round.

Watch the clip above, and stay tuned to see what happens to Dremeka when they return to the AGT stage next Tuesday.
