See DEATH play brutal cover of SLAYER's "Black Magic" in 1993

Chuck Schuldiner played 'Show No Mercy' classic with 'Individual Thought Patterns'-era lineup

If there was ever a band qualified to cover Slayer and actually do the thrash lords justice, it would be Death. Chuck Schuldiner and Co. covered the Show No Mercy classic "Black Magic" twice during their career, and one of those 1993 instances was captured on video for our viewing pleasure almost 30 years later.

The above cover went down in late 1993 during Death's Individual Thought Patterns era, when they were really leaning into their prog side and had what was arguably their strongest lineup — Schuldiner, drummer Gene Hoglan, bassist Steve DiGiorgio and axman Craig Locicero.

Of course, Death's version of "Black Magic" was evil and heavy as fuck. Watch them play it above via YouTube.
