See Deftones and Max Cavalera's Insane "Headup" Performance on French TV in 1998

Nu-metal heavyweights played crushing song in front of blinding strobe lights

One of the heaviest Deftones songs is undoubtedly "Headup," the blood-curdling deep cut on 1997's Around the Fur that features monstrous guest vocals from Max Cavalera. The Brazillian metal maestro was just starting up Soulfly after leaving Sepultura the previous year, and as murderous as he sounds alongside a screeching Chino Moreno on the recording, the pair sounded even more menacing when they joined forces to play "Headup" live on French TV in early 1998.

On a stage that was being blasted with blinding strobes, a young and hungry Deftones brought an exhausting amount of energy to the song while Cavalera roamed between them, fuming and looking intimidating as shit when he wasn't growling like a madman into the mic. It's a supremely intense moment of musical violence that's luckily still here for the watching today on YouTube. Check it out above.
