See Deftones Play "7 Words," "Teething," at Wild In-Store Show in 1996

Rising band treated handful of lucky fans in Southgate, Michigan, to unhinged intimate performance

By August 10th, 1996, Sacramento's Deftones had been together for eight years already and were deep into the support of their first album, Adrenaline, which they had dropped 10 months before via Madonna's Maverick Records. Their song "Teething" had also just been released in July on the soundtrack to The Crow: City of Angels and the group would make a brief cameo in the film when it hit big screens later in August. On the 10th, though, Chino Moreno and Co. were focused on bringing their all to an intimate in-store performance at Southgate, Michigan's Record XChange for a handful of very lucky fans.

The group whipped out an array of Adrenaline songs, including "7 Words," as well as the non-album cut "Teething," with the Deftones and the crowd collectively losing their shit in the tight space. Watch the stunning cuts above and below.
