"Goon Squad," "Error" and "Ceremony" got live debuts

Last night (November 05th), Deftones headlined the 2022 edition of their annual Dia de los Deftones festival. The diverse, hand-picked bill included Turnstile, Freddie Gibbs, Phantogram, Cold Gawd and more, but the day belonged to the Sacramento alt-metal trailblazers, of course.

Chino Moreno and Co. made the most of their climactic set at Petco Park in San Diego, California, giving three songs their live debuts: Koi No Yokan standout "Goon Squad" as well as "Error" and "Ceremony," both off their most recent album, Ohms. They also dusted off rarities including "Rapture" (played for the first time since 2009), "976-EVIL" (first time since 2010) and "Back to School (Mini Maggit)" (first time since 2018.)

The show also notably marked Deftones' first show since their European/U.K. run, which OG guitarist Stephen Carpenter sat out; Carpenter re-joined them for their Dia de los Deftones performance. Watch fan-shot footage of their full set above.
