See DEFTONES play deranged record store show in 1996

"Bored," "7 Words" and "Nosebleed" were in the stacked setlist

In 1996, shortly after they released their debut album, Adrenaline, and before they were even that big, Deftones managed to land a tour opening for KISS. Even now, it's one of the weirdest musical pairings imaginable, but on one of their off days from playing in arenas with the face-painted hard-rock heroes, Deftones played a venue that's somehow even more difficult to conceive of now — a record store.

On October 10th, 1996, Chino Moreno and Co. visited HMV Records in Philadelphia where they ripped through an utterly raging set of Adrenaline-era bangers. Despite playing for a crowd that was probably one-fiftieth the size of the audiences on the KISS tour, Deftones treated the show like it was their hometown headliner, thrashing across the stage and screaming the words to songs like "Teething", "Root," "Bored," "Nosebleed" and "7 Words."

Fortunately, someone standing right next to the stage was able to record the entire performance on video, and it recently resurfaced on YouTube for jealous fans around the world to see. Watch above and let the FOMO flow through your veins.
