Stephen Carpenter and Shavo Odadjian got insane in the membrane

Cypress Hill are a rap group who've always operated on the fringes of metal, and over the weekend, they stepped all the way over the headbanging line. The Cali rappers tapped Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter and System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian to be their backing band for a performance at NASCAR's Busch Light Clash on February 5th.

The concert went down at the Los Angeles Memorial coliseum, and Beastie Boys keyboardist Money Mark was also included in the lineup alongside Cypress Hill mainstays, B-Real, Sen Dog, Eric Bobo and DJ Lord. The band played on a stage located on the side of the raceway, and the inclusion of Carpenter and Odadjian's playing gave songs like "How I Could Just Kill a Man" an added dose of nu-metal crunch.
