Watch DevilDriver, Lamb of God singers discuss collaborating on new country covers album 'Outlaws 'Til the End: Vol. 1'

A couple months ago we joined DevilDriver's Dez Fafara and Lamb of God's Randy Blythe for a day of surfing in Malibu. After the waves died down, we cornered the musicians for a chat about how their longtime friendship (which began when both bands played Ozzfest 2004) and shared love of outlaw country led to collaborating on DevilDriver's new covers LP Outlaws 'Til The End: Vol. 1 — on which Blythe delivers seriously brutal vocals for Willie Nelson's "Whiskey River" and the Johnny Cash–popularized track "Ghost Riders in the Sky."

In the video above, watch Fafara and Blythe talk about "Whiskey River" and "Ghostriders in the Sky," working with Johnny Cash's son John Carter Cash, and daughter-in-law Ana Cristina Cash, and the humbling experience of recording in Cash's studio a.k.a. the "Cash Cabin."

Below, see Fafara elaborate on the inspiration behind the 12-track album (which also features guest spots by Hank 3, Fear's Lee Ving, Fear Factory's Burton C. Bell, 36 Crazyfist's Brock Lindlow, Wednesday 13 and Lamb of God's Mark Morton) and reveal how a Revolver feature story — in which we did a joint interview with the DevilDriver singer and Hank Williams III — unexpectedly led to Outlaws 'Til The End: Vol. 1.
