First full set with original vocalist since 2001

Dillinger Escape Plan's Calculating Infinity 25th anniversary reunion phase formally kicked off this past Saturday (June 8th) at Pomona, California's inaugural No Values festival.

Not only did the mid-day set at the Pomona Fairplex mark the first DEP performance since the band went on hiatus at the end of 2017, the show also marked a proper live reunion between founding guitarist Ben Weinman and original singer Dimitri Minakakis, who hadn't played a full gig together since the frontman exited the project in 2001. They were also joined onstage by Dillinger alums Liam Wilson (bass), James Love (guitar) and Billy Rymer (drums).

Unlike the band's upcoming reunion gigs in New York City — where they'll be performing landmark 1999 debut album Calculating Infinity in full — the No Values set was more of a primer of DEP's awesomely quixotic early phase. So, manic Calculating cuts like "Destro's Secret" and the iconically stomped-out "43 % Burnt" were complemented by a handful of songs from the band's 1997 self-titled debut EP and its 1998 follow-up Under the Running Board.

The set also found Minakakis once again breathing fire onstage, while DEP also jammed out a cover of Dead Kennnedy's "California Über Alles" alongside DK vocalist Jello Biafra, as well as a hardcore take of Minor Threat's "In My Eyes" that brought Weinman's Suicidal Tendencies bandmate Mike Muir to the mic.

You'll find live clips from the chaotic set — performed beneath a Pomona sun that did in fact shine down, down, down on DEP — up above and down below.
