Prog-metal wizards unveil dazzling visual for crushing new song

Revolver has teamed with Dream Theater for an exclusive 2LP vinyl variant of their new album A View From the Top of the World on "opaque green" wax. Grab yours before they're gone!

Last week, Dream Theater unveiled their 15th studio LP, A View From the Top of the World, their latest onslaught of epic prog-metal wizardry. One of the heaviest songs on the record is a djenty cut called "Awaken the Master," and today (October 25th) the band have shared its very own music video.

The visual is packed with dazzling scenes of nature, architecture, outer space and much more, offering the perfect accompaniment to the near-ten-minute song's sonic journey. Check it out above via YouTube.

"It's the last song we wrote," John Petrucci said of "Awaken the Master." "It's also the first time I've used my eight-string guitar, which was fun for me. Back in the day when we were writing Awake, I'd always wanted to play a seven-string. So, I ordered myself one. I wanted to be inspired again by the instrument without any pre-conception. I used it, and I wrote in my style on the eight-string. It was actually a prototype!

"'Awaken The Master' purposefully starts with guitar only," he continued. "John Myung wrote the lyrics. Recently, I heard him say, 'The master was your heart'. He was referring to awakening your heart. It's one of the heavier songs on the record due to the range of the instrument."

A View From the Top of the World is out now, and Revolver has an exclusive 2LP + CD vinyl variant on "transcluscent green" wax. These won't last long, so grab yours while you still can!
