Chino, Daron and Shavo, Alexi Laiho, Greg Puciato and Rob Trujillo joined forces at Chi Cheng benefit show

Beloved original Deftones bassist Chi Cheng passed away in 2013 after spending five years in a semi-conscious state following a devastating car accident, but in 2009 he, his family and his friends and bandmates were fighting hard to keep him going and provide him with the best medical care possible. In that effort, the Deftones organized a special benefit show in October 2009 and called in a bunch of their famous friends, including members of System of a Down, Metallica, Children of Bodom and Dillinger Escape Plan, for a set full of all-star covers.

The highlight of the show, held at Hollywood's Avalon club, was an unreal once-in-a-lifetime rendition of Master of Puppets' opener "Battery" featuring Deftones' Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter and Abe Cunningham, Dillinger Escape Plan's Greg Puciato, System of a Down's Daron Malakian and Shavo Odadjian, Metallica's Robert Trujillo and Children of Bodom's Alexi Laiho. Watch fan-shot footage of the historic collaboration above and below.
