Fans who can't make San Francisco performance can experience show on big screen

Metallica announced way back in March that they would be teaming with the San Francisco symphony once again to recreate the 1999 concert where the thrash icons' live album S&M was recorded over two memorable nights. The 20th anniversary event happening on September 6th will celebrate the landmark collaboration and the opening of the new 18,064-seat venue Chase Center in the Mission Bay neighborhood, but fans who can't attend the momentous occasion will get the chance to view the show on the big screen for one night only, October 9th.

Trafalgar Releasing Ltd. is at the helm of the must-see concert film, which will see the band joining not only the symphony but also its famed conductor Michael Tilson Thomas, who also waved the baton the first time around, as well. "I'm happy to join with my friends in Metallica to make this an extraordinary only-in-San Francisco music event," he enthused at a press conference for the event's announcement. Tilson Thomas is heading into his last season in charge.

S&M2 is set to feature several songs from the original S&M, as well as symphonic arrangement of songs released since that time. Tickets for the concert film are available now via
