Musicians perform Evanescence's new single in quarantine

Evanescence's Amy Lee and violin virtuoso Lindsey Stirling have history together. The latter made a guest appearance on Evanescence's album Synthesis — which featured orchestral re-imagining of some of the band's most popular tracks — performing on one of the record's two new songs, "Hi-Lo". She shortly thereafter hit the road with the goth-metal hit-makers, a trek that saw Stirling join the band onstage for a powerhouse cover of Ozzy Osbourne's classic "No More Tears."

Now, Lee and Stirling have teamed up again, this time to reimagine Evanescence's most recent single "Wasted on You." Lee joined the violinist on her video series String Sessions for the quarantine collaboration. The Evanescence vocalist recently made a similar appearance on Lzzy Hale's YouTube show, Raise Your Horns With Lzzy Hale, for a gorgeous duet on Halestorm's "Break In." The duo also revealed plans to release a studio version of the collaboration in August that had been recorded pre-lockdown.

As for Lee and Stirling's newest collaboration, "Wasted on You" is, of course, the lead single off Evanescence's first album of original material in nine years, The Bitter Truth, which the band are planning to offer up "one piece at a time" this year. The group premiered the slow-burning cut — their first new song since Synthesis — and unveiled its DIY music video in April. The P.R. Brown-directed clip was filmed by each band member — Lee, guitarists Troy McLawhorn and Jen Majura, bassist Tim McCord and drummer Will Hunt — on their iPhones while in quarantine.
