An intimate solo performance from her home studio

Like many of us, Evanescence singer and bandleader Amy Lee is staying at home and keeping her distance during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. But she's still reaching out to fans, most recently by broadcasting an intimate solo performance from her home studio via Instagram Live. Held on March 22nd, the livestream was to promote social distancing and raise awareness for World Health Organization and Global Citizen during #togetherathome. Lee's stripped-down four-song set featured two Evanescence originals and one solo song plus a somewhat surprising cover of 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Whitney Houston's ebullient 1987 classic "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." See the set list and time codes below.

00:00-04:00 - Swimming Home
04:06 - 08:15 - I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Whitney Houston cover)
08:25 - 13:24 - Good Enough
13:29 - 15:50 - Stand by Me

The live session comes shortly after the release of Lee's unlikely duet with hip-hop OG Ice-T on the Body Count song, "When I'm Gone," off the rap-metal crew's latest album, Carnivore. As for Evanescence, the band have been hard at work on their own new album, which would be the follow-up to 2017's Synthesis LP, a collection of reimagined versions of the group's signature songs recorded with a full orchestra and additional electronic effects. Evanescence were set to hit the road in Europe this spring on a co-headlining run with Within Temptation, under the banner "Worlds Collide," but the tour was postponed due to the spread of COVID-19.
