See Faith No More Play Raucous "War Pigs" With Ozzy and James Hetfield in 1990

Ozzman and Metallica frontman jump in for high voltage Black Sabbath cover

On November 9th 1990, Faith No More played RIP magazine's fourth anniversary party at the Hollywood Palladium, a gig that would see many once-in-a-lifetime collaborations, some totally badass, others dismally sloppy (see the debut of all-star quartet Gak featuring Sebastian Bach, Slash, Duff McKagan and Lars Ulrich). Falling in the former category was Ozzy Ozbourne's unbilled appearance with FNM for a rowdy rendition of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs," which also saw James Hetfield join in on guitar. (Watch that performance beginning at the 3:10 mark above). Mike Patton and Co., of course, covered the song on their 1989 album The Real Thing, and it was a staple of their live set; they warmed up for this particular take by playing their own hit "Epic" with "Bust a Move" rapper Young MC. For his part, Ozzy was in the prime of his solo career, with his smash LP No More Tears on the horizon, but he threw himself into the Sabbath classic with typical gusto ("Clap your fucking 'ands!") and the crowd responded in suit.
