In May 2015, just days before the release of their long-awaited seventh album, Sol Invictus, Faith No More returned to television for the first time in 20 years, playing the sleazy, snarling single "Superhero" on The Tonight Show. The reunited Nineties alt-metal troublemakers broke out the all white outfits and flowery onstage arrangement that would soon become familiar to fans from the shows the band would play in support of the LP. The flashiness of the presentation was matched by the energy of the performance, which saw singer Mike Patton and keyboardist Roddy Bottum trading vocals while leading their bandmates into the song's raucous open to its haunting conclusion.
