See Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins Sing Queen's "Somebody to Love" at Final Show

Drummer took on frontman duties for joyous performance in Argentina

The music world is still reeling from the death of Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins over the weekend. Tributes from fans and friends have been rolling in, but perhaps the greatest memorial to his talent and passion can be found in his final show with the Foos, on March 20th at Lollapalooza Argentina at the Hipódromo de San Isidro in San Isidro.

In addition to his prodigious skill on the drums, Hawkins was also a powerhouse singer who fronted a variety of side projects as well as occasionally the Foos themselves. One such occasion was the band's Lollapalooza Argentina gig where Hawkins stepped out from behind the kit to deliver an exuberant rendition of Queen's "Somebody to Love" with Grohl taking on time-keeping duties.

Making the performance even more bittersweet are the words that Grohl and Hawkins exchanged onstage beforehand. "You know, the best thing about Taylor Hawkins — he's the best drummer in the world, we love him so fuckin' much," the Foos bandleader says in pro-shot video before a big reveal of Hawkins' gloriously Eighties-metal spandex pants. The two embrace and switch places, and Hawkins tells the massive crowd: "I fuckin' love Dave Grohl, man. I'd be delivering pizzas if it wasn't for Dave Grohl. I'd be managing the drum department at a Guitar Center if it wasn't for Dave Grohl." Watch above.
