At the Gates have finally released their seventh full-length, The Nightmare of Being. The Gothenburg melodeath pioneers have been teasing the record with a handful of experimental singles, and to celebrate its full unveiling, the group have shared a video for its atmospheric title-track.
On the album's three previous singles, At the Gates added flecks of black metal and prog into their signature breed of melodic death metal, and the title-track includes yet another bit of new flair with some doomy spoken-word vocals from frontman Tomas Lindberg Redant. He returns to screaming after the intro, but the track moves forward at a trudging pace and concludes with a sludgy, atmospheric chug.
Its mesmerizing video sees the band performing under grim, blood-red lighting while crimson liquid swirls behind them. Watch it above via YouTube.
