With last week's release of two brand-new songs, "Kiss the Go-Goat" and "Mary on a Cross," Swedish occult rockers Ghost revved up fans' interest just in time to kick off the latest North American leg of their Ultimate Tour Named Death. On the run's opening night at the Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, California, on September 14th, the group played the tunes live for the first time (since Papa Nihil's 1969 fabled performance at the Whiskey a Go-Go, of course), as captured in the fan-filmed video above and below.
The songs' 1960s pop flavor aligns nicely with a new band storyline in which these cuts are meant to be demos dating back to 1969 and the first incarnation of the group, recently unearthed and remastered for public consumption. The numbers' Doors-inspired heavy organ lines and dance-y retro vibes drive the latest twist in Ghost's story home.
With the first two nights under their belt, Ghost are ready to make their way all the way across the United States and parts of Canada with a show in Portland, Oregon, set for tonight, September 16th, before they wind their way up and down and across to the east, wrapping in Glen Falls, New York on October 26th.
