Ghost led up to the June 1st release of their fourth LP Prequelle with a series of cinematic videos introducing new singer Cardinal Copia and other elements of the album cycle. Now, the Swedish occult metal band has dropped the latest clip in the series, which stars the elderly Papa Nihil and a nun with a death wish, to announce an upcoming string of headlining dates in Europe. Following the close of their current North American leg of "A Pale Tour Named Death" in December at Brooklyn arena Barclay's Center, the group will kick off the European leg in France on February 3, 2019.
Ghost's rise to fame has been steady for years, culminating in Prequelle selling more than 66,000 copies in its first week alone. Lead single "Rats" sat at No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts for seven weeks, and the album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The band's focus on visual impact has always worked in conjunction with their music, and this album cycle has seen an expansion of that tactic with the dramatic mini-movies released ahead of the record. This latest entry in the series features the nun "Sister Imperator" in a fiery car crash before cutting to her fully wrapped body in a hospital bed. Papa visits her, joined by with his two child minions, and asks Sister what he can do to help her in her injured state. Her response? "Well, Papa, can you announce the European headline tour?" He obliges, and the dates below flash on the screen.
