Orange County, New York's Gizmachi rose to fame in the mid aughts, backed by Slipknot's Shawn "Clown" Crahan, who signed the group to his label, Big Orange Clown, and released their debut, The Imbuing, in 2005. The band toured on Ozzfest that same year, playing the second stage, but the good times didn't last. Gizmachi went on hiatus for 16 years — only breaking their silence this March with the release of their long-awaited follow-up, Omega Kaleid. Soilwork's Björn "Speed" Strid serves as the vocalist on the album, and one of the highlights is "Turned to Dust," a sinuous rager that sees Strid and the band's core quartet — guitarists Jay Hannon and Mike Laurino, bassist Kris Gilmore and drummer Jimmie Hatcher — operating in overdrive. Today, Gizmachi have teamed with Revolver to premiere the song's maniacal new music video. Watch above.
Hannon comments, "'Turned to Dust' was written when Gizmachi's future was pretty much up in the air. We'd always written our music with the four of us together in the same room, but Mike and I summoned our inner Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson and wrote this song with a drum machine [Superior Drummer] in my old bedroom studio. I think it has a different vibe from the rest of the record because of that. Every time we wrote a drum part, we would ask each other, 'What would Jimmie do?" (W.W.J.D.) haha … And once Jimmie got a hold of the song, it instantly sounded like Gizmachi."
