Bandleader Timo Ellis: "The runaway feel good/bad hit of summer 2020!"

Purveying a kaleidoscopic, sugary yet heavy sound that's been described as "psych-prog-sludge-pop," New York's Netherlands have won over big-name fans including Mastodon's Bill Kelliher and Gojira's Joe Duplantier, the latter of whom has called them "one of my absolute favorite bands!" Led by vocalist-guitarist-songwriter Timo Ellis (a former member of Cibo Matto and collaborator of Yoko Ono), the quartet are gearing up to drop their fifth full-length, Zombie Techno, on June 26th via Records and Tapes Records. The LP includes the single "We're All Gonna Die One Day," aptly titled for our apocalyptic times, a churning, bottom-heavy cut that shimmers with sarcastically sunny hooks. Today (June 12th), the band has teamed with Revolver to unveil the song's music video, a striking, colorful clip with a fittingly sardonic edge, juxtaposing images of shallow, narcissistic, social-media-obsessed frolickers with scenes of pollution and protests.

"The runaway feel good/bad hit of summer 2020!" Ellis proclaims of the song and its video, which he directed. "A scathing yet still sugary call to arms, to rescue the Earth's remaining life support systems from oblivion. In my opinion, ideologies and practices based on unexamined humanism/human supremacy are going to bring modern post-industrial civilization violently crashing down much sooner than anyone thinks, if we don't all start to radically get our shit together. (Also, everyone, stop eating industrially mass murdered animals, please.)"
