See Gojira Debut "Born for One Thing," More at First Show in 2 Years

French metal crew crushed 'Fortitude' songs and others at Louder Than Life fest

Gojira have returned to the live stage. The French heavy-metal savants played their first show in nearly two years last night (September 24th) at Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, which also marked their first set since releasing their titanic new album, Fortitude, earlier this year.

The set list was only a brisk eight songs, but three of them were brand new tracks from Fortitude that Gojira got to play live for the first time ever. Per setlist.fm, the band opened with Fortitude's might intro, "Born for One Thing," and then after hitting on the big-ins from Magma and From Mars to Sirius, they closed with a one-two punch of "Another World" and "Amazonia."

Fortunately, some phone-strapped fans were there to capture the action and upload it to YouTube on a dime, so you can watch footage of their epic opener above via YouTube. The notoriously air-tight band sound precise as ever while blasting through "Born for One Thing"'s palm-muted guitar riff and crushing breakdowns, and the mosh pit went the fuck off.

Meanwhile, a different fan recorded HD footage of the band cranking through "Stranded" from their 2016's Magma, which is currently reminding Revolver HQ how much we missed these guys on the live circuit. Peep that below via YouTube as well as the full Gojira setlist from yesterday's gig.

Tonight, Gojira are travelling out to corn country to play Knotfest Iowa alongside numerous other heavy-hitters including Bring Me the Horizon, Megadeth, Lamb of God and of course the Knot themselves.
