See GOJIRA singer join MASTODON for beastly "Blood and Thunder" performance

An insane crossover between metal titans

Mastodon broke out their Leviathan stomper "Blood and Thunder" last night (May 9th) in Richmond, Virginia, on their "Mega-Monsters Tour" with Gojira and Lorna Shore. As fans know, the roaring modern metal classic features guest vocals by the mighty Neil Fallon of Clutch, but for this particular live performance, the Atlantan crusher-destroyers brought out one of their tourmates to do the honors.

The lucky vocalist? None other than Gojira's Joe Duplantier, who, according to a post on the band's Instagram, "invited himself" out onstage for the part. Surely, Mastodon didn't mind. As for fans, they ate the moment up. Watch above.

The Mastodon-Gojira team-up wasn't the only collab of the evening: During the latter band's set, hometown hero Randy Blythe, of Lamb of God, came up and joined Duplantier and Co. for their song "Backbone." You can check out that performance below.
