It's been a big breakthrough year for young retro rockers Greta Van Fleet, and their hot streak continued last week when Apple Music named the Michigan outfit as the first rock band to be included in their celebrated "Up Next" artists series. Tomorrow (September 5th), that announcement will be followed up by the premiere of an exclusive short film on the group, including a special stripped-down performance of "When the Curtain Falls" — which you can sample below — and spotlighting the band's small-town Michigan background and the diet of blues standards and classic rock that shaped their sound. The mini-doc will be viewable here to all Apple Music subscribers.

"The spirit of rock 'n' roll lives on in the modern day, but there's one artist in particular that has taken the true sound of original rock 'n' roll as inspiration and gotten it right," said Beats 1 Creative Director and On-Air Host Zane Lowe. "We're excited to give Greta Van Fleet the headlining slot as our newest Apple Music Up Next artist."

"We are elated that Apple has named us its 'Up Next' artist, especially as we are the first band to be given that honor," Greta Van Fleet commented. "Apple Music has been very supportive of us from the beginning and we really appreciate this recognition."
