Earlier today (April 1st), Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg unveiled a stunning, swirling new mask created especially for Knotfest Japan in collaboration with Japanese painter Solid Blackline. Now, footage of his debut performance in said mask has hit the internet.
The show was the first of two back-to-back headlining sets by Weinberg and his band — the second takes place tomorrow night — at Makuhari Messe 9-11 Hall in Chiba, Japan. The drummer looked great behind the kit with his new visage, pounding out the savage beats to 15 'Knot classics. Check out video of the full performance above, and drum-cam footage, as well as the full setlist (courtesy of setlist.fm), below.
"The organic, flowing shapes of [the] high-contrast designs evoke feelings of mysticism and beauty, balanced within the duality of chaos and order one feels as a visitor in this wondrous country," Weinberg explained of his new mask on Instagram.
.@knotfestjapan night one was absolutely stellar Let’s keep the party going tonight, Tokyo!!
