Rob Zombie and former Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5 has another solo effort titled Invasion dropping this summer, and ahead of that the shredder has released a new animated video in which he plays a giant robotic version of himself angry and hellbent on torturing Los Angeles.
"In this video, I am transformed into a mechanical monster and controlled by the mad scientist — performed by Butch Patrick aka Eddie Munster — to destroy Hollywood! I'm programed with my laser beam guitar to destroy everything in my path!" The electro-disco groundwork of the song allows John 5's preternatural six-string talents to flourish via funky solos and impressive quick-plucking runs while the simplistic lyrics consisting of only the track's title repeat in modulated harmony while 5's cartoon counterpart uses his fire-breathing axe to obliterate different buildings around town, including Capitol Records and several theaters and venues.
Written and directed by Disney animator John Boggs, the video is a sequel to John 5's previous release "Zoinks." Following in the footsteps of his previous LP, Invasion will also roll out as a series of shorts.
