See Judas Priest Reunite With Glenn Tipton for Searing Encore in New Jersey

Guitarist retired from touring due to battle with Parkinson's disease

Judas Priest brought out guitarist Glenn Tipton during their show at Newark, New Jersey's last night (March 30th). The encore appearance, which marks Tipton's first time onstage since retiring from touring last month, found him ripping through three songs — "Metal Gods," "Breaking the Law" and "Living After Midnight" — with the heavy-metal legends.

Tipton announced his exit from Judas Priest's touring lineup on March 12th, citing his battles with Parkinson's disease as the reason for his departure. He was replaced by producer Andy Sneap for the present trek behind new album Firepower.

Last week, the guitarist posted a message on Judas Priest's website that appeared to portend last night's comeback. "It's not the end for me," Tipton wrote of his illness. "I'll still be able to write and record, and on good days, even join the band on stage for a few songs."

Judas Priest's Firepower tour continues tomorrow at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Find a full itinerary here.
